Rev. Jeffrey J. Meyers
Jeff grew up in the Crestwood/Sappington area, graduated from Lindbergh High School ('75) and the University of Missouri at Columbia ('79). After serving as an officer in the U.S. Army, Jeff attended Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, but took three years off to teach at a Christian school in Texas. Upon graduation from Covenant Seminary ('88), he served three years as an Associate Pastor in Huntsville, Alabama, and then three years as Pastor at Covenant Presbyterian in Houston, Texas. Since coming to Providence in 1994, Jeff has earned his Master of Sacred Theology (S.T.M) and is currently completing his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at Concordia Theological Seminary. Jeff and his wife Chris give thanks for 27 years of marriage and four faithful children: Rebekah, Lauren, Julia, and Jeffrey Jr. Pastor Meyers enjoys walking, hunting, photography, science fiction, and cooking. Rev. Christopher T. Smith
Chris grew up in central Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University (1991) he moved to Pittsburgh where, for five years, he directed a youth ministry to Jr. & Sr. High students. In 1996 Chris moved to St. Louis to attend Covenant Seminary. Upon graduation from Covenant (2000) Chris simultaneously took a call as an Assistant Pastor at Providence and as Pastoral Director at Sunshine Ministries, an inner city ministry located in downtown St. Louis. In May 2003, the congregation voted to call Chris as an Associate Pastor. Chris and Sonja are grateful for over ten years of marriage and delight in their four children.
Rev. Mark Horne
Mark Horne was born in Melbourne, Florida, but has also lived in Liberia, West Africa, and Kwajalein, Marshall Islands before graduating from high school. After graduating from Houghton College in Western, NY, in 1989, Mark worked for American Vision, Coral Ridge Ministries, and co-authored two books with George Grant. After living in Nashville, TN, where he worked as a writer/editor for Legacy Communications, Mark attended Covenant Theological Seminary here in Saint Louis and earned his M.Div. degree in 1998. Mark has pastored two congregations since his seminary graduation, and he returned here to serve as Assistant Pastor in January 2005. Mark is a prolific writer and the author of a layperson's commentary on the Gospel of Mark. Mark has been married to Jennifer for 13 years, and they have four young children.
Elder Paul Jaeggi
Assistant to the Pastors
Paul was born and raised in the Bevo Mill area of South St. Louis. He graduated from Cleveland H.S. ('43), served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and has worked in the St. Louis area all his life. Paul was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church almost 50 years ago! Jane, Paul's wife for over 50 years, went home to be with the Lord earlier this year (2004). Paul has three children: Paul Jr. (Skip), Sue, and Ric, as well as two dear grandchildren, Paul and Rachel.
Mr. Bill Hoover
Bill grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and came to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He graduated in 1979 with a music degree and then studied computer science and finance at the University of Evansville (Indiana). Bill became our organist in 1986 and our music director in 1991. In addition to his service at Providence, he is employed full-time as a database developer for a commercial lending firm. Bill and his wife Barbara have two children, Daniel and Lisa.
